Patient Centricity in Clinical Trials

Greetings from Patients as Partners Europe

For the past 2 days Be the Partner participated in the most patient centric forum in Europe:  Patients as Partners Europe in London on Feb 6-7.  This conference seeks to implement and advance patient involvement across the entire clinical development continuum. Speakers from industry, patients advocacy groups, investigators and patients themselves discussed the importance of understanding the patients needs and the collaboration between patients and industry.

Something the conference offered this year was  “Ask the Patient” - a program representing a group of individuals who’ve experienced a clinical trial. These patients, our Clinical Trial HeroesHeroeVogel.jpg, were at the conference to answer questions about their clinical trial experience. It was a great opportunity to learn about the realities of a clinical trial directly from the patient’s point of view. Many of these patients stopped by our exhibit and asked to be added to our Shared Patient Community as well.

I presented a case study on "Integrating Patient Needs Into a Shared Patient Community Beyond the Trial". The discussions with the patients and patient advocats subsequently showed how important it is to communicate and stay connected with the patients across and beyond the whole clinical trial as well as giving them access to their study data and information and updates to actual and upcoming trials.
